[Breaking News] Tiger Woods Tournament Updates – April 24, 2013

Tiger Woods to defend AT&T title at Congressional

It isn’t terribly surprising, given that he’s the genial host of the event and he’s healthy this year, but Tiger Woods has confirmed that he’ll play in the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

Woods, who won the tournament last year, announced the news last week on his website. This year’s tournament will be held June 27-30.

“I’m really looking forward to defending my title at the AT&T National,” Woods, presently ranked No. 1 in the world, said on his website. “The Washington, D.C., community has been so supportive of the tournament, and I’m excited to play Congressional Country Club.”

Tiger Woods will skip Wells Fargo tournament

Tiger Woods will skip a tournament he usually plays next week, but don’t read too much into that. It probably has nothing to do with Lindsey Vonn. Or that drop that nearly resulted in a disqualification in the Masters a little over a week ago.

Woods typically takes three weeks off after the Masters and, because it fell a little later than usual on the calendar this year, there’s only two weeks between it and the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. Consequently, as his agent confirmed to the Associated Press, he’ll sit out the Wells Fargo.

Tiger Woods Foundation to run Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston

Jim Rogash – The Tiger Woods Foundation takes on operational responsibility for the second FedEx Cup Playoff tournament.

The Tiger Woods Foundation made official on Monday what its namesake announced in December — that it has assumed management and operational responsibilities of the PGA Tour’s Deutsche Bank Championship.

The second leg of the FedEx Cup Playoffs, the event takes place over Labor Day weekend at TPC Boston. As Woods noted in his annual holiday blog, his foundation — which took the reins from IMG as of November 1, according to TWF championship director Eric Baldwin — has served as the primary beneficiary of the tournament for the past ten years.

“The Deutsche Bank Championship has seen tremendous success thanks to the Boston community, the incredible fans and dedicated sponsors, and we are excited to play a bigger role in its management moving forward,” Greg McLaughlin, president and chief executive of the foundation, said in a statement on the new DBC website Monday.

Tiger Woods Asks Lindsey Vonn to Move In With Him

(Paul Bussi/USA Today Sports)

The argument can be made that Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are the hottest couple in sports at the moment considering everything they’ve gone through over the last couple of years. From Vonn’s ex-husband posting hilarious tweets about Tiger during the Masters to the re-storing of his image following his sex scandal from a few years ago, it truly is amazing how Woods and Vonn have managed to come together over the last couple of months.

In fact, things appear to be going well enough where Woods is comfortable enough to ask Vonn to move in with him.

That’s right, it looks like one of te biggest power couples from sports has decided to take their relationship to the next level by agreeing to live together–with Woods’ $60 million home in Florida being the destination. Hopefully, this situation turns out better than the last time Woods lived with a female (too soon?) considering he most likely doesn’t want to deal with the aftermath again of the mistakes he made a few years ago during the sex scandal.
