All eyes on Emily Nolan
This week, some of the LGPA`s best golfers have returned to Williamsburg to compete in the Kingsmill Championship. And while the main focus will be on the Stacey Lewis, the Paula Creamers, or the Christie Kerrs, all eyes will be on Emily Nolan.
The Walsingham Academy grad has a passion for golf. She volunteers as a standard bearer walking from hole to hole with the professionals.
So what’s running through her head with so many fans watching?
“Well first don`t trip and embarrass yourself.’ ‘I don`t really think they are looking at me. They are probably looking at the person with the club in their hand, but it’s still pretty incredible’ and just the entire round running through my head is how lucky am I to be able to be standing next to somebody who has the skill that they do.’ It’s just a real learning experience,” says Nolan.
Born in Moscow, Russia, on 27 March 1986, Maria Verchenova is one of the hottest imports in the game today. She is the first Russian to become a full-time member of the Ladies European Tour. She has several top-10 finishes.
“I am looking at Maria [Sharapova], not because of the way she looks but because of the way she plays, I think Russian women are strong mentally. They are trying really hard and they are achieving things.”
“I always like to bring something extra special to the golf course, so if I’m wearing sexier, more stylish stuff like a shorter skirt or a nice tennis-style dress and people notice then great.”
Carolin Pinegger is the second member of the Big Break Myrtle Beach cast who played collegiate golf at Central Florida (joining Katie Detlefsen).
Carolin is from Austria and now resides in Florida. She spent five years as a member of the Austrian national golf team (2002-07) as a junior golfer. She moved to the United States at age 16 to attend the IMG Academy. From there, she graduated to UCF. She turned pro in 2013 and reached the final stage of LPGA Q-School last year. That earned her status on the Symetra Tour.
